Mosaic Life Care’s neuroscience program offers multidisciplinary care across a spectrum of neurological disorders, meaning that patients won’t need to be sent to each expert separately. Physicians, nurses and clinicians from many areas of expertise work together to develop each patient care plan, so patients receive high-quality neurological care without having to travel outside their community.
Mosaic’s neuroscience program is led by director Saleem Abdulrauf, MD (formerly the founding chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery at Saint Louis University). David Ewing, MD, is another noted provider on Mosaic’s team, helping to deliver the premier neurological care northwest Missouri deserves.
As part of the Mayo Clinic Care Network, our doctors have the opportunity to work with and consult Mayo Clinic care providers on any patient case to provide the best treatments possible.
The neuroscience program provides care from experts in neurological disorders such as:
- Alzheimer’s
- Spinal cord injuries
- Brain tumors
- Epilepsy and seizures
- Multiple sclerosis (MS)
- Parkinson’s disease
- Stroke
High-flow brain bypass surgery
Dr. Abdulrauf helped to develop this less invasive surgical procedure for the treatment of intracranial aneurysms. This technique allows for more blood flow to the brain, faster recovery for patients and improved patient outcomes.
Awake neurosurgery
Mosaic, with the help of Dr. Abdulrauf, performs awake surgery for complex brain aneurysms and tumors — as well as awake craniotomy neurosurgeries. These neurosurgeries have higher success rates and allow patients to receive cutting-edge treatment close to home.
