Dr. Assefa earned her medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, Mo. She completed her internship and residency at the University of Missouri – School of Medicine in Columbia, Mo. 

She is certified by the American Board of Echocardiography: Testamur and the American Board of Internal Medicine. She completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease from University of Missouri – School of Medicine in Columbia, Mo. 

Dr. Assefa treats patients with coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. She performs echocardiograms, cardiac CT scans and calcium scoring, stress tests and vascular studies.
