Why did you choose your profession?
Health service runs in the family. My mom and sister are both nurses. I also had a friend in high school who was in a bad car accident and I went with him to his therapy appointments. That is when I decided to become a physical therapist.

My husband Brian (in Maryville lab) moved here about 20 years ago. We were a package deal – it had to be a hospital that would take us both! We enjoyed the area, the opportunities for outdoor activities and the involved school systems. These were all important to us to move here.

The loss of my grandfather as result of a fall later provided a motivation to intervene in the aging population. Missouri Western State University offered a stellar program I wanted to be part of, and this career continues to offer educational opportunities to increase our services.

Why did you choose your profession?
In high-school my paternal grandmother had a significant CVA, watching her go through the rehabilitation process sparked my interest in occupational therapy. Seeing her work with her OT to get back to meaningful activities and how she was able to adapt her environment to continue to participate in daily tasks drew me to the profession.

Mosaic Medical Center - Maryville has always been home to me. I was born here and have lived in the area my entire life. Coming back to this area to grow my family and professional career was a no brainer. I love being able to serve the community in which I grew up!

Why did you choose your profession?
I chose to become an occupational therapist because I knew I wanted a job where I could help people do the activities and tasks they wanted and needed to do. In high school, I job shadowed with an occupational therapist. At first, I had no idea what occupational therapy. After that, I knew it was what I wanted to do.

I chose Mosaic Medical Center – Maryville because Maryville is “home” even though I’m originally from Kansas. Maryville is the place where I went to part of middle school (St Gregory’s) and high school. My parents are also in town as well as my sister and niece/nephews.

I worked at Heartland Hospital after graduating from nursing school until I moved back to the Maryville area. So when Mosaic purchased St. Francis Hospital where I was currently working, it was the best for me to return to the same organization I had initially worked for at the beginning of my career.

I started my nursing career working in the larger cities, in the midwest and both the east and west coasts. I moved back to the Maryville area in 1996 to be closer to family. I have been at this hospital since then.

Why did you choose your profession?
I was injured playing football in high school. The process, from the beginning to the end, sparked my interest in sports medicine. My favorite thing about being an athletic trainer is building relationships between the athletes, parents and coaches. Also knowing that I played a role in an athlete's success is rewarding.

Why did you choose your profession?
I chose athletic training because I was always interested in how the body works, and I knew that I wanted to stay around sports. I was a high school athlete myself, so I know how it feels to be injured and not be able to play, and being able to understand how the athlete feels motivates me to help them get back to where they need to be.

I chose Mosaic Medical Center because it brought me back to my hometown. Also, whenever I was going through the interview process, I realized that I was surrounded by great people who would help me continue to improve as an athletic trainer.

Why did you choose your profession?
I loved sports and I found myself injured a lot playing sports growing up, so it was a natural profession for me to gravitate to. The best part about being an athletic trainer is assisting student athletes from injury on the field, to supporting during the entire rehab process and then helping them to return to their sport.

I originally chose Maryville because it was closer to my family in Nebraska. I’ve stayed because the people I work with are now family.
