What does it mean to you as a patient to have your exam at an accredited American College of Radiology (ACR) facility?
The ACR awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer review evaluation of its practice.
The image quality and procedure evaluations are conducted by board-certified radiologists and medical physicists, who are experts in the field.
The program also evaluates personnel qualifications, adequacy of equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs. All finding are reported to the facility/practice via a comprehensive report that includes any improvement recommendations if necessary.
When you choose an ACR facility you know:
- Your hospital/clinic has voluntarily gone through rigorous review to meet national standards
- Personnel are well qualified through education and certification to perform and interpret medical images
- Equipment is appropriate for testing and you will receive and the facility meets or exceeds quality assurance and safety guidelines.
