In our approach to diagnosing and treating lung conditions, we use the Galaxy System™ which is the first and only integrated robotic lung navigation solution. Utilizing this technology, our pulmonologists are able to more accurately locate lesions in the patient's lungs.

When lung cancer is caught earlier, it is much easier to treat in a curable way. Detecting lung cancer in the earliest stages is a key step to having the greatest chance of survival.

"Having the tools to be able to go in and get a diagnosis so that you can put these patients on a treatment option is exciting. The Galaxy System™ gives us accuracy to go after these small nodules, and now we’re detecting stage 1 lung cancer."

Galaxy Technology Advantages

  • Improves diagnostic yield in the most difficult regions of the peripheral lung
  • Real-time navigation guidance allows physicians to more accurately obtain the tissue needed for diagnosis
  • Proprietary technology provides real-time lesion location updates to overcome CT-to-body divergence with confirmation that the tip of the biopsy tool is in the center of the lesion to improve diagnostic success
  • Single-use disposable bronchoscope reduces risks of cross-contamination or infection

Advantages of robotic-assisted bronchoscopy include:

  • Faster recovery time
  • Earlier diagnosis and treatment
  • Lower risk of complications
  • Reduced exposure to radiation
  • Cancerous lung nodules found can be treated immediately
  • Single procedure means less time under anesthesia

"What the Galaxy System provides is you are able to see an image of where the nodule is every single time. And then, you put your tool out and you do another spin, you see your needle is in that lesion — that's the gamechanger. That’s what made me decide to go with the Galaxy System."

How It Works

  • Handheld device – similar to a video game controller – allows doctors to guide an ultra-thin, ultra-flexible tube into the lungs.
  • Navigational tools with four-way articulation move the scope in all directions, making it easier to navigate intricate airways and reach lesions in the outer areas of the lungs.
  • Disposable bronchoscope helps reduce the risk of infection and the light and camera at the end of the scope provide continuous visualization of the airways
  • Proprietary technology in the Galaxy System updates the lesion location in real-time and confirms when sampling tools are in the lesion at the time of biopsy —allowing for greater precision and accuracy.

Technology Features

TiLT+ Reconstruction

Enables the physician to visualize the tool in the lesion to improve diagnostic accuracy

Galaxy_2.png

Augmented Fluoroscopy

Provides a graphic overlay for visualization of both tool and lesion, allowing the physician to re-adjust for accurate tool deployment

Targeting Mode with Strikepoint™

Calculates the difference between the tip of your tool to the center of the lesion, providing additional tool-in-lesion confidence
