AIDS

Overview

AIDS is a disease caused by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). HIV damages the immune system, interfering with the body's ability to fight disease-causing organisms. HIV can be transmitted through contact with infected blood, semen or vaginal fluids.

Treatments

No cure exists, but medications can dramatically slow disease progression.
