Amyloidosis


Overview

Amyloid is an abnormal protein that is usually produced in the bone marrow and can be deposited in any tissue or organ.

Symptoms

Symptoms depend on which organs are affected. They may include swelling, fatigue and weakness, shortness of breath, and numbness, tingling, or pain in the hands or feet.

Treatments

Depending on the type of amyloidosis, medications, chemotherapy, or a stem cell transplant may be options.
