Antiphospholipid syndrome


Overview

Antiphospholipid syndrome can cause blood clots to form within the arteries, veins, and organs. It can also cause miscarriage and stillbirth in pregnant women.

Symptoms

Blood clotting related to this syndrome may cause pain, ulceration, or swelling in the leg or arm, or a stroke. It may also cause vaginal spotting or bleeding during pregnancy.

Treatments

Blood-thinning medications can reduce the risk of blood clots.
