Bubonic plague

Overview

Bubonic plague is a rare but serious bacterial infection that's transmitted by fleas.

Symptoms

Symptoms include swollen lymph nodes, as large as chicken eggs, in the groin, armpit, or neck. They may be tender and warm. Others include fever, chills, headache, fatigue, and muscle aches.

Treatments

It requires urgent hospital treatment with strong antibiotics.
