Bursitis

Overview

Bursitis is inflammation of the fluid-filled pads (bursae) that act as cushions at the joints. It occurs most often at joints that perform frequent repetitive motion. This includes the shoulders, elbows, and hips.

Treatments

Treatment includes rest, ice, and pain relievers. Surgery is rarely needed.
