Overview

A chemical burn is damage to the skin and tissues caused by chemical contact.

Symptoms

Symptoms may include pain, blisters, and redness in the burned area, as well as difficulty breathing and a headache.

Treatments

Treatment typically involves removing any remaining chemical and rinsing and loosely wrapping the area. Severe burns need emergency care.
