Chest infection


Overview

A chest infection is a viral or bacterial infection of the lungs or the tubes connecting the windpipe to the lungs (bronchi). Examples include pneumonia and bronchitis.

Symptoms

Symptoms can include breathing difficulty, fever, cough and chest pain.

Treatments

Treatment may include self-care remedies, such as drinking fluids and resting. Antibiotics may be used for bacterial infections.
