Coccidioidomycosis

Overview

Coccidioidomycosis, sometimes called valley fever, is infection with the fungus, coccidioides. The fungus is found in some soil. It causes infection when stirred up and inhaled.

Treatments

Mild cases clear up with no treatment. If the infection doesn't clear, it can become chronic or spread beyond the lungs. Such cases require antifungal medications.
