Overview

Congenital adrenal hyperplasia affects a child's normal growth and development. Although it can be life-threatening, most people with it can lead normal lives with proper treatment.

Symptoms

Symptoms in infants may include ambiguous genitalia in girls. Boys and girls may be short in height and have early puberty.

Treatments

Treatment involves hormone replacement medications. Reconstructive surgery is an option for girls.
