Overview

Cutaneous leishmaniasis is spread by the bite of sandflies. This type of leishmaniasis affects the skin.

Symptoms

Symptoms include skin lesions, which typically develop within several weeks or months after exposure. Lesions typically grow larger and eventually lead to open sores with a raised border, which can be covered with scales or crust.

Treatments

There are medications to kill the parasites.
