Diverticulosis


Overview

Diverticulosis is a condition in which small, bulging pouches (diverticula) develop in the digestive tract. It's common after age 40.

Symptoms

Usually, no symptoms occur, unless the diverticula become inflamed or infected (diverticulitis).

Treatments

Treatment generally isn't needed unless diverticulitis symptoms, such as fever and abdominal pain, occur.
