Dysentery


Overview

Dysentery is inflammation of the intestines and bloody diarrhea. It's usually caused by shigella bacteria or an amoeba. Dysentery is often spread through unclean food or water.

Symptoms

It causes bloody diarrhea.

Treatments

Prompt medical care is needed for bloody diarrhea. Treatment may include increased fluid intake, rehydration solutions, IV fluids and antibiotics.
