Endometriosis

Overview

With endometriosis, tissue that normally lines the uterus grows outside the uterus. This tissue thickens, breaks down, and bleeds with each menstrual cycle, becoming trapped. This can be painful. Nearby tissue may be irritated and fertility can be impaired.

Treatments

Effective treatments, such as hormones and conservative surgery, are available.
