Eosinophilic esophagitis is a chronic condition in which the esophagus is inflamed or injured. The esophagus is the tube that connects the mouth to the stomach.

Symptoms include trouble swallowing, food getting lodged in the tube, and persistent heartburn.

Treatments include diet changes, medications, and stretching of the esophagus.
