Graves' disease

Overview

Graves' disease is an immune system disorder in which the butterfly-shaped gland in the throat (thyroid) overproduces hormones. The condition is more common in women under 40.

Symptoms

Symptoms include anxiety, hand tremor, heat sensitivity, weight loss, and enlarged thyroid.

Treatments

Treatment includes medications. Sometimes the thyroid is removed.
