Hidradenitis suppurativa

Overview

Hidradenitis suppurativa is a chronic skin condition featuring pea- to marble-sized lumps under the skin.

Symptoms

It usually occurs where skin rubs together, such as in the armpits, groin, and buttocks. Lumps can be painful and tend to enlarge and drain pus.

Treatments

Medications, corticosteroid injections, and sometimes surgery can help manage symptoms.
