Hypercalcemia

Overview

Hypercalcemia is most often caused by overactivity in the four tiny glands in the neck (parathyroid glands). Extra calcium in the blood affects many body systems.

Symptoms

Symptoms of hypercalcemia range from mild to severe. They may include increased thirst and urination, belly pain, nausea, bone pain, muscle weakness, confusion and fatigue.

Treatments

Treatment may include drugs or surgical removal of an overactive gland.
