Hypotension


When to make a doctor’s appointment

Make an appointment to see a doctor if:

  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Fatigue
  • Lack of concentration
  • Taking medication that might cause drop in blood pressure

Self-care

Rise slowly from sitting or lying down, avoid alcohol, eat fruits and vegetables, and be sure to get plenty of water. Eating small, low-carbohydrate meals may also help.

When to seek immediate medical care

See a doctor immediately if:

  • Fainting
  • Cold sweats
  • Rapid, shallow breathing
  • Blood in stool
