Hypothyroidism

Overview

Hypothyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid gland doesn't produce enough of certain hormones. Hypothyroidism is most prevalent in older women.

Symptoms

This deficiency can disrupt such things as heart rate, body temperature, and all aspects of metabolism.

Treatments

It's diagnosed by a blood test and treated with synthetic hormones.
