Infectious mononucleosis, also called kissing disease, is caused by the Epstein-Barr virus. It's transmitted in saliva.
Symptoms
Symptoms such as fatigue, fever, and swollen glands are more common in young people.

Treatment involves rest, fluids, and easing symptoms. Complications of the virus can be serious and include spleen and liver conditions.
