Overview

Left ventricular hypertrophy is the enlargement of the muscle tissue in the wall of the heart's lower left chamber (ventricle). The condition is often caused by high blood pressure.

Symptoms

Symptoms include shortness of breath, chest pain, and rapid, fluttering, or pounding heartbeats.

Treatment can include medications and surgery.
