Overview
Infected sandflies, found in certain areas of the world, spread the infection by biting humans. Different types exist. The skin, internal organs, and mucous membranes can be affected.
Symptoms
Depending on the type, symptoms may include skin sores, fever, weight loss, and enlargement of the spleen or liver.
Treatments
Severe cases can be fatal. Treatments exist. But avoiding the bites of sandflies is best.
