Molluscum contagiosum


Overview

Molluscum contagiosum is a viral skin infection that results in round, firm, painless bumps. Scratched bumps can spread infection to surrounding skin. The condition spreads through contact with an infected person or a contaminated object.

Symptoms

Signs and symptoms of molluscum contagiosum include small bumps on the skin that are raised, round and flesh colored.

Treatments

The bumps usually disappear on their own. Medications and surgical removal of the bumps may be needed.
