Osteoarthritis

Overview

Osteoarthritis occurs when the flexible, protective tissue at the ends of bones (cartilage) wears down. This gradually occurs and worsens over time.

Symptoms

Joints in the hands, neck, lower back, knees, and hips are commonly affected.

Treatments

Medications, physical therapy, and sometimes surgery can help reduce pain and maintain joint movement.
