- Area hasn't healed in one to two weeks
- Area is increasing in size
- On face

Keep the area clean, apply a topical antibiotic and don't try to squeeze the pus out. If there's a boil or pimple, applying warm compresses a few times daily may hasten drainage.

- Extreme pain and swelling of the area
- Inflammation or redness of the affected area
- Fever
