Rabies

Overview

Rabies is a deadly virus spread to people from the saliva of infected animals, usually through a bite. Animals most likely to spread rabies in the U.S. include bats, coyotes, foxes, and raccoons.

Symptoms

Once symptoms appear, it's nearly always fatal.

Treatments

A vaccine can prevent infection. Seek immediate medical attention after a bite or suspected bite.
