Rotavirus

Overview

Rotavirus spreads by the fecal-oral route. The virus in someone's stool can be spread by unwashed hands to other surfaces. If another person touches that surface and touches his or her mouth, infection may follow.

Symptoms

Symptoms include severe watery diarrhea, fever, and vomiting.

Treatments

There's no specific treatment other than preventive vaccination. Oral or intravenous fluid replacement may be needed.
