Sick sinus syndrome


Overview

Sick sinus syndrome is a group of heart rhythm conditions in which the heart's natural pacemaker (sinus node) malfunctions. The risk rises with age. The heart may beat too fast, too slow, have long pauses, or a combination of these.

Symptoms

Symptoms include fatigue, dizziness, and fainting.

Treatments

Treatments may include a pacemaker and drugs.
