SLAP tear


Overview

SLAP tear is an injury to the ring of fibrous tissue (cartilage) around the shoulder joint. It can be caused by an accident, a fall, or repetitive overhead motions such as in weightlifting or throwing.

Symptoms

Symptoms include a grinding feeling, pain, and weakness in the shoulder.

Treatments

Treatments may include medications, physical therapy, and surgery.
