Tonsillolith


Overview

A tonsil stone (tonsillolith) is a lump of calcified material lodged in one of the fleshy pads at the back of the throat (tonsils).

Symptoms

Symptoms may include a sensation of something stuck in the throat, bad breath, sore throat, difficulty swallowing and ear pain.

Treatments

Many tonsilloliths require no treatment. Larger ones can be removed by a doctor.
