Viral meningitis


Overview

Viral meningitis is an inflammation of the membranes (meninges) surrounding the brain and spinal cord, caused by a viral infection.

Symptoms

Telltale symptoms of this condition include headache, fever, and a stiff neck.

Treatments

Usually there's no specific treatment for viral meningitis. Symptoms resolve on their own in 7 to 10 days.
