How you prepare

Before having your first ECT treatment, you'll need a full evaluation, which usually includes:

• Medical history
• Complete physical exam
• Psychiatric assessment
• Basic blood tests
• Electrocardiogram (ECG) to check your heart health
• Discussion of the risks of anesthesia
